Taare Zameen Par

After a long time I just watched a very good Hindi movie and that also on first day itself. Normally I don't give movie review but this time I am recommending all to watch Taare Zameen Par for following reason:
  • For child actor Darsheel Safary's performance
  • For a meaningful direction by débutante director Aamir Khan
  • For presenting a complex misunderstood issue in a simplistic way
  • For overall good movie with adorable songs flowing throughout the movie

Now I am waiting to watch Welcome as soon as I can ;-).

One Year of Blogging ...

I was just seeing my older posts and found that I completed a year of my blogging here. I started this blog on 2nd Aug 2006. My topic was more related with Indian web startups and Google. I covered details about emerging job boards, open source in Kerala, Guruji search engine, data on paper, Desi angle to YouTube, Yahoo going regional and AOL in India.

Resolution: I need to be more active here.

Pune is Calling ...

One and half month ago my Post Graduation course got over(results still awaited) and now my last vacation will be over today. Tomorrow I'll start a new journey as a software trainee in one of the biggest corporate house in Pune. By the way I already done six months internship in Pune so this city is not new for me but now I'll work as an employee rather then an internship student.

Wish me Luck ;-)

P.S.: I'll try my best to keep posting here my thoughts and about new startups as and when I'll get time.

My First Experience with PHP Apache and MySQL

Finally I completed a website using PHP, MySQL and Apache web server after burning lots of candles and sleepless nights. I am normally an ASP programmer but always wanted to learn PHP from long time. So after giving much thought I started creating a website in PHP with back-end as MySQL during this vacation time. It took me two days to properly setup PHP, Apache and MySQL on windows XP machine. But after setting up I found that its quite easy, we just need to follow steps properly.

I completed this work in twenty days which i could have completed in around ten days if it was it ASP. Obviously PHP is new to me thats why it took time also I already have many previously built code by me in ASP ;-).

It was nice experience. Now I am getting more deeper into it and exploring more aspects of PHP, MySQL, Apache web server and associated technologies/tools.

and yes I'll appreciate any guidance, suggestions or comments by you to improve my knowledge.

Happy Frienship Day

Hello Friends,

Wish you all a Happy Friendship Day.

Here is a small list of sweet messages which I received from my sweet friends today:
  • I just want you to know that I feel lucky and honored to have you as my friend. May what we share only grow stronger in time.
  • Things will change from: classroom to office, books to files, jeans to formals, pocket money to salaries. What will not change is FRIENDS and let it not change.
  • It's the day to mark and remember all the fun we had and the good things we ever did together. Praises and abuses, all shared.
  • Friends are the sunshine of the life.
  • I saw an old painting of two friends holding hands. I wondered how long it will stay intact. Its old but yet it never faded. I wish we remain the same.
  • The day you came to my life, i crowned you my good friend. I judged you not for your beauty or tone, but because I felt you as my own.
  • Its true, God cant be everywhere so he made friends, Thanks for being a great friend whom I cherish. Wish you a very healthy and friendly life ahead.
  • Years will come, years will go but with each one I will always know that whichever way the road may bend, you will always remain a fantastic friend.

I am thankful to all my friends for there support and encouragement during my up and downs throughout every moment in this journey of life.

Have Fun ;-)

Hide that Navigation Bar of Blogspot Blog

I never felt the need of navigation bar which always get appear with all the blogspot blog. Finally I found some cool ways (say hacks) to hide this nav bar from any blogspot blog by just adding few CSS line.

To start with list of different solutions, I will first suggest my own hack. Here is the cool one line solution by me which will work with new Blogger template.

/* Deep C Solution: http://ursdeep.blogspot.com
----------------------------------------------- */
#navbar-iframe { height: 0px; }

Just add above line in your blogger template in CSS style section inside head tag. This will simply reduce the size of nav bar to 0(zero) pixel and it won't be visible anymore.

Now here is the list of other solutions suggested by different bloggers. I also tried these solutions which are working fine to hide nav bar from the blogspot blog.

Here is the first solution as suggested by Amit Agarwal in his blog :
Add this code anywhere in the blog template within style tag:
#navbar-iframe
{
height:0px;
visibility:hidden;
display:none;
}

This blog also suggest one more solution as:
/* By Aditya http://the-lastword.blogspot.com/
----------------------------------------------- */
div.navbar {
opacity:0.0;
display:none;
}

Another solution as suggested by Praveen in his blog :

/* Apnerve hack code
more info @: http://www.apnerve.blogspot.com
----------------------------------------------- */
#navbar #Navbar1 iframe{
display:none;
visibility:none;
}

or try this CSS code:

iframe
{
display:none !important;
}

Now final word: I am not sure if its legal or not to hide that nav bar from the blogspot blog.

If you know any other solution to do same functionality of hiding the nav bar then do aware me also.

Lets Forward E-Mails But ...

I just got this mail from one of the yahoo groups I have subscribed. Normally I do follow all of the steps and I think its very necessary for all of us to make this as a habit to reduce junk mails and virus attacks at everyones end. Also it makes a mail more readable.

Do you wonder why you get viruses or junk mail? Do you hate it?

Every time you forward an e-mail there is information left over from the people who got the message before you, namely their e-mail addresses & names. As the messages get forwarded along, the list of addresses builds, and builds, and builds, and all it takes is for some poor sap to get a virus, and his or her computer can send that virus to every e-mail address that has come across his computer. Or, someone can take all of those addresses and sell them or send junk mail to them in the hopes that you will go to the site and he will make five cents for each hit. That's right, all of that inconvenience over a nickel!

How do you stop it? Well, there are several easy steps:

(1) When you forward an e-mail, DELETE all of the other addresses that appear in the body of the message (at the top). That's right, DELETE them. Highlight them and delete them, backspace them, cut them, whatever it is you know how to do. It only takes a second You MUST click the "Forward" button first and then you will have full editing capabilities against the body and headers of the message. If you don't click on "Forward" first, you won't be able to edit the message at all.

(2) Whenever you send an e-mail to more than one person, do NOT use the To: or Cc: fields for adding e-mail addresses. Always use the BCC: (blind carbon copy) field for listing the e-mail addresses. This is the way the people you send to will only see their own e-mail address. If you don't see your BCC: option click on where it says To: and your address list will appear. Highlight the address and choose BCC: and that's it, it's that easy. When you send to BCC: your message will automatically say "Undisclosed Recipients" in the "TO:" field of the people who receive it.

(3) Remove any "FW :" in the subject line. You can re-name the subject if you wish or even fix spelling. Also remove all ">" from the mail body to make it reader friendly.

(4) ALWAYS hit your Forward button from the actual e-mail you are reading. Ever get those e-mails that you have to open 10 pages to read the one page with the information on it? By Forwarding from the actual page you wish someone to view, you stop them from having to open many e-mails just to see what you sent.

(5) Have you ever gotten an email that is a petition? It states a position and asks you to add your name and address and to forward it to 10 or 15 people or your entire address book. The email can be forwarded on and on and can collect thousands of names and email addresses. A FACT: The completed petition is actually worth a couple of bucks to a professional spammer because of the wealth of valid names and email addresses contained therein. If you want to support the petition, send it as your own personal letter to the intended recipient. Your position may carry more weight as a personal letter than a laundry list of names and email address on a petition. (Actually, if you think about it, who's supposed to send the petition in to whatever cause it supports? And don 't believe the ones that say that the email is being traced, it just aint so!)

(6) One of the main ones I hate is the ones that say that something like, "Send this email to 10 people and you'll see something great run across your screen." Or, sometimes they'll just tease you by saying something really cute will happen IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN!!!!!

(7) Before you forward an Amber Alert, or a Virus Alert, or some of the other ones floating around nowadays, check them out before you forward d them. Most of them are junk mail that's been circling the net for YEARS! Just about everything you receive in an email that is in question can be checked out at Snopes.

Its really easy to find out if it's real or not. If it's not, please don't pass it on.

So please, in the future, let's stop the junk mail and the viruses.

Finally, here's an idea!!! Let's send this to everyone we know. This is something that SHOULD be forwarded.

Great Going Mitul

Mitul is my friend and classmate from VJTI college who made it to TOP position on Midomi with his own composition "Tu Hi Mera Dil".

A very good thing about "Tu Hi Mera Dil" is that it is the only Hindi song currently in top charts.

Apart from being a software engineer, Mitul is a dancer , choreographer and a real good singer with damn good voice.

You can listen his own composition "Tu Hi Mera Dil" here.

Hey Mitul Keep up the Good Work and we like to see your name in top charts only ;-).

AOL in India

Better late then never. Finally AOL also arrived in emerging internet market of India with a dedicated Indian domain aol.in.

They come up with Messenger service, free e-mail, news section and also for Indian audience they also have comprehensive coverage of Cricket, Bollywood, Hollywood, International Music and scintillating ringtones.

They are going to face tough competition from established player like Yahoo, Rediff, MSN, Google in all area. As these big players already have there niche position in messenger, email and news services. Also many utilities and various services from Yahoo and Google with only one email id are tough to move.

Still our best wishes are with AOL and lets see if they can come up with something new which can fit them nicely in indian web arena.

World Cup and Cyber Crimes

I was just browsing through different websites for some cool stuff related with World Cup 2007 and got stuck on this news. As describe in this news, during big events like World Cup, phishers also get active as this is a good time to create a some phishing attacks to acquire personal and financial information.

  • Do not share your personal or financial information with any unknown sites just to watch final or to meet Dhoni.

We suppose to meet at Thane ST Stop at 7 am. Most of the time whenever i want to go for picnic my stomach gets gadbad and it happened this time also so I called Jeetu at 7:20 and said "mere pet(stomach) mein gadbad hain.....to hum 8:15 ko milte hain...." and i reached there with the thought that "saale sab gaali denge kyunki maine late kiya hain" but then there is Rajesh who saved me by coming at 8:45....

With some initial coloring to each other we took a bus for Vasai....UD took initiative of singing and we sang exactly 3 song, all from Amitji's movie....and with some knowledge transformation about NH-8 and enjoying scenic beauty on the road we reached Vasai ....

Action Time:
Action begins with gullal, then some pakka color and then color mixed with waters..and yeah also some kichads(i mean matti wala paani)....in this period Jeetu's face color changed from Red to Green to Blue etc etc...

Everyone is impressed with Mitul's work during cleaning and bathing...and i hope he will continue this service in Pune also....also when 6 people took bath outside then Jeetu came out from bathroom.... and started using that cream called.....

Gachchi par Majaa:
Jeetu was really lucky today....i tried to pull his leg as usual but this time my aces (UD & Rupesh) got against me and supported him in all activity like support gang......also he got two strong support from Raj & a rival gang member Ridwan...... .

Back to Home:
The Bus ride from Vasai to Thane was full of fun and hot debates .... where we discussed about Fractal, Party Scenario and UD's justification of cutest smile.... and yeah i will always be grateful to Ridwan for his instant long term vision during this bus ride.

Thought:
It was a great experience with lots of fun and delicious food. We should do this kind of get together as frequently as possible and in the presence of all the members of our beloved VJTI.

Yahoo Going Regional in India

Yahoo! comes up with portals in seven different languages of India. You can check Yahoo now in Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, and Tamil.

Serving localized content in preferred language is the next big thing in the indian interent arena due to many different language usages in various different regions in our country.

Even MSN provides there portal services in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Tulugu and Malayalam.

So it seems that big companies want to increase there market share by providing services in any language and acquiring all kind of customers they can in India. Also it will help them to serve ad of regional advertisers to specific customers and to increase there revenue.
